4-ride ticket single journeys

If you will only be using buses and trains occasionally, and not so often that it is worth buying a day ticket, or weekly or monthly  pass, we recommend the 4-ride ticket for individual journeys.

Stamp the required number of sections. Per ride and person 1 to 4 sections need to be stamped depending on the number of zones travelled through.

Example: Travelling from Pirna to Dresden you pass through two tariff zones, so each person punches two of the four strips. 

The reduced rate 4-ride ticket is valid for children and for bulky items.

Price level

You can get single tickets in several price categories. The ticket price depends on two things: the number of tariff zones travelled and the time you need for your journey.


Price level 1

For journeys within one fare zone or within a boundary
area as per tariff for maximum 1 hour.



Price level 2

For journeys in two adjacent fare zones, i.e. crossing one
fare zone boundary for maximum 1,5 hours. Fare zones
that are used more than once per journey only count once.


Price level 3

For journeys in three fare zones, i.e. crossing two fare Zone boundaries for maximum 2 hours. Fare zones that are used more than once per journey only count once.


Price level 4

For journeys in more than three fare zones (VVO region) for maximum 4 hours. 

Validity on special tourist services

4-ride tickets are invalid:

  • on the Bergbahns in Dresden (Funicular Railway, Suspension Railway), 
  • for the Meissen city tour,
  • for the Radebeul–Radeburg and Weisseritz Valley narrow gauge railways,
  • on the Kirnitzsch Valley Tramway,
  • for the Bad Schandau elevator and
  • in on-call shared taxis.

Validity in 1st class

For using 1st class on local trains, day tickets are available for upgrade to 1st class. 

Once punched, tickets are non-transferable.

Note

Children up to their first day of school and severely disabled persons are transported free of charge in accordance with the provisions of the Social Code Book IX (Sozialgesetzbuch - Neuntes Buch - SGB IX). Pupils up to their 15th birthday can take advantage of the reduced fares with a customer card.

Options for combining with other tickets

In the VVO region, you can easily combine all tickets. The only exception is the 4-ride ticket for short journeys, whose sections you cannot combine.

Note on validity and stamping of tickets:

Single tickets are valid for an hour longer if they are stamped in the tariff zone for which you already have a day ticket or season pass. If you are travelling on local trains, you should stamp all the tickets you need for your journey before getting on any train at the platform.

If your journey begins in a tram or bus, then stamp the tickets after entering the vehicle. If there is a ticket inspection, please show all your tickets in order to avoid any misunderstanding.

Examples of combination

Example: monthly pass + single trip

You use a monthly pass for the tariff zone Dresden and want to travel to Wehlen in one day? Then buy a single trip for a tariff zone for the onward journey in the tariff zone Pirna. Since you stamp the single ticket in the tariff zone Dresden itself, even though you still have a monthly pass there, it is valid for a longer duration. You then have two hours from the time of stamping to reach Wehlen.

Example: monthly pass + day ticket

You have a monthly pass for both the Radebeul and Dresden tariff zones and want to go hiking in Saxon Switzerland? Then you can additionally buy a day ticket for the Pirna and Bad Schandau tariff zones. Stamp these before boarding the suburban train and you can be mobile throughout the day.
