... your visit to Meissen with a trip on the Meissen City Tour bus. This will take you conveniently to the main sights in the historic old town, and to the Albrechtsburg castle on the hill overlooking the Elbe.
You can hop on and off the shuttle buses all day, whenever you wish, for example to visit a particular sight or the small cafés, restaurants, wine outlets or well-established shops.
Every day from 29 March to 2 November 2025
In the 2024 excursion season, the city tour stops at all the main points, such as the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, the historic market, the Albrechtsburg with its cathedral, and the Albrechtsburg, every 60 minutes. On your VGM (Meissen transport authority) minibus, the driver will briefly explain the main sights of the 1,000 year old city of Meissen.
Hop off en route and jump back on later ...
During the day you can interrupt your modern shuttle-bus tour as often as you wish to visit the sights that interest you, and just get back on later. In-between, visit the little cafés, restaurants, wine shops, or many other shops.
Each bus has 17 seats, standing room for 5 and a space for a wheelchair.

Bus & rail to the Meissen city tour
From Dresden, e. g., you get to the Meissen city tour buses with the S-Bahn S 1 to Meissen.
City bus lines A, B and C will take you from the bus station near the railway station across the Elbe and into Meissen's old town. You can also walk across the Altstadt bridge to the old town in around 10 minutes.
Tariff information for Monthly- or Monthly subscription ticket
Do you have a weekly, monthly or Abo-monthly pass which includes the Meissen tariff zone (TZ 50)? If so, you can travel free on Meissen city tour buses.
At weekends and on bank holidays, for those with a normal tariff monthly or Abo-monthly pass, the rule applies that one other adult pays only the reduced price.
Will you be using a Dresden Regio Card to get to Meissen? If so, again, you only need to pay the reduced price.
Deutschlandticket (Germany ticket)
The Deutschlandticket is also valid for journeys on the Meissen city tour.
